Jennifer Doudna is a pioneer in the advancement of CRISPR. She, alongside Emmanuelle Charpentier, were the first two to propose that CRISPR-Cas9 could be used for the editing of the human genome. This research led to both receiving a Nobel Prize in Chemistry, "for the development of a method for genome editing," in 2020.
