Sickle cell disease is the most common inherited blood disorder in America, with over 100,000 people diagnosed, causing severe, chronic pain and other serious problems. Science Spotlight
Dr. Carter Clinton is a genetic anthropologist at the Department of Biological Sciences at North Carolina State University. His research focuses on admixture mapping analysis to uncover the living conditions, diets, and diseases of African Americans from the 17th and 18th centuries. He does this through DNA analysis of the New York African Burial Ground using an evolutionary medicine analysis.
