Hello, some might call it bad luck, we like to think of it as homeostasis. We had wonderful news to report recently about our merger. Now we can tell you about a not so wonderful event that occurred at 3DMD last week (see below). Regardless of the events, we see both as nothing but opportunity. Our staff continues to be amazing while working around the challenges. We are even learning some interesting science! A growth mindset benefits all in science education.

Fire and Water:

Not an R.R. Martin Novel

Over the weekend of the 11th-12th, a small fire erupted in our business office. The sprinkler system activated, the fire department arrived quickly and extinguished the fire. We are grateful no one was hurt.

Damage was contained mostly to our business offices. Restoration professionals were called immediately and are busy cleaning and restoring the areas impacted by smoke and water.

We are rising to the occasion, thanks to the dedicated team members at 3DMD. Our production staff is still operating and busy putting together new kits to be shipped. Amazingly, any delays in fulfilling orders will be shorter than we expected.

We appreciate all the wonderful emails expressing support and kindness during this unusual situation.

Kits are stacking up. Orders are getting filled. Our dedicated staff are making every effort to ship as quickly as possible.

Science Is Everywhere: Oh No becomes Ozone

Ever the molecule-minded learners, the 3DMD staff are fascinated with the use of ozone, a trivalent oxygen, in destroying gases associated with smoke from the fire. Here are some things we've learned about this molecule:

Ozone is an unstable molecule and has a half-life of approximately 20 minutes
Ozone combines with and destroys gases like smoke
The ozone generator produces ions which cause dust to agglomerate and then precipitate from the air
