Science Spotlight
David Goodsell, PhD, is a Professor of Computational Biology at the Scripps Research Institute and a Research Professor at Rutgers University, where he acts as the Scientific Outreach lead at the RCSB Protein Data Bank. Dr. Goodsell creates cellular landscapes that accurately illustrate the size, shape, and distribution of proteins in the cells. The unique watercolor images he creates connect the molecular world, inferred by X-ray crystallography and NMR spectroscopy, with the cellular world, observed by light and electron microscopy. Creating these landscapes is how he extrapolated data and research into the infrastructure of cells. We're proud to collaborate over the years with Dr. Goodsell to bring these illustrations to students!
